Facebook-owned WhatsApp boasts a billion users Initially reported by a user in India named Bharat Mishra who stated that his old chats were “disappearing chronologically” and that WhatsApp wasn’t responding to his “more than 25 emails.” This was then highlighted by WaBetaInfo on their Twitter handle. Previously, the company announced a partnership that allowed all chats from the app to be backed in the Drive account. That also meant that if and when your account was not updated in more than one year, the data was automatically removed from Google Drive storage. This was perhaps the reason why chats disappeared for many users. WhatsApp hasn’t officially responded to complaints. Many users took to Twitter to show their disappointment and rant about the bug that needs fixing.
